The Borno State Governor, Babagana Zulum has met with families of policemen and civilian JTF volunteers who were ambushed on Friday while on their way to Baga as security backup.
He visited the headquarters of the state police command in Maiduguri on Monday where the bereaved families gathered to receive him.
According to him, some of the affected officers are Mba Mathew, Ibrahim Muhammad, David Jarta, Jerry Joseph, John Barka, Elijah Gwarza, Eheboya Osaheinde, and Nura Aminu.
“It is so sad, looking at what happened. It is quite unfortunate and I am pained by that incident. However, those men died as heroes, as patriots and as people that have brought honour to their families even though we never wished that it happened”.
He, however, did not announce details of the support as he explained that nothing equals the value of the lives of those killed.
