On Friday, February, 20, 2016, the humanitarian group NSUK Touch A Life Campaign visited the Internally Displaced Persons Camps in Abuja, with the purpose of getting more insights as to what the basic needs of the inhabitants are and the challenges they currently face.

The volunteer group is aimed at bringing to fore, the conditions of Nigerians displaced by the Boko Haram insurgency in the Northeast by sourcing for clothings, food items and other basic needs for the IDPs in Abuja.

Led by the initiator Zainab Mundi, the group took a tour around the facility, capturing heart melting and touching images that portrayed the terrible and unhygienic living conditions of these Nigerians.

In an interview with one of the displaced persons who spoke in Hausa Language, he expressed the pains and struggle they pass through in the camp.

"At times we get food stuffs from volunteer groups and well meaning individuals and most times we stay days without food. If we are lucky on such days, we get only one square meal a day", he lamented.

"Our kids don't have access to qualitative education. Our young ladies who had nce's are the ones tutoring the little ones on basic primary education" he said.

He also lamented on the poor conditions of their 'sleeping spaces', saying 'Our rooms are unhabitable as they are built from sacks and polythene bags which make it unbearably hot when the weather gets sunny; you could hardly spend thirty minutes inside the room during this hot weather. And we can't sleep outside either because of mosquitoes", he said.

The group appeals to well meaning individuals to make contributions and join hands with the volunteer group to help alleviate the sufferings of the IDPs.

Speaking on behalf of the group, Zainab promised that all resources gathered will be judiciously and appropriately dispersed, to give the IDPs a bit of respite.
